Off the main interstate, which is exactly why it still feels like a mountain town.
Fly into Gunnison and you are half an hour away. Montrose is usually cheaper with a longer drive, and Denver is the cheapest of the lot if you do not mind four hours of very good scenery.

Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone and Copper all sit on the same interstate out of Denver, and in season that road backs up for miles. A ninety-minute drive can easily double. Crested Butte is further from Denver on paper and often quicker in practice, because you are not sitting in it.
You do not need the car again. Parking at the Inn is free, the lifts are 500 yards away, and the free Mountain Express runs every 20 minutes in season between Mt. Crested Butte and the historic town below. The stop is steps from the front door.
Nothing. There is no daily parking charge and no resort fee added at checkout — which is not true of most places on this mountain.
