The aspens turn for about two weeks and the whole valley goes gold. The quietest and prettiest time to come.
Late September into early October, the aspen stands around Crested Butte turn and the valley changes colour completely. It is a short window and it moves each year.
The summer crowds have gone and the snow has not arrived. The hiking and riding are still open, the town is calm, and rates are at their lowest.
The Crested Butte Fall Festival closes out the season before the mountain turns over to winter.
